Where is Glenbrook Resort?
On the H27 it is just 2 miles from the 192 to the front door of Sunshine Palms. Glenbrook Resort is beautifully placed for attractions Orlando has to offer, but at the same time offers a quiet, relaxing retreat.
What community facilities are there at Glenbrook?
The Glenbrook Resort offers guests, free of charge, the use of facilities at the Club House. These include an exercise room, a comfortable lounge with a mega ‘movie’ entertainment system, pool and air hockey tables, while outside there is a communal pool, tennis court and sand volley ball court.
Do we need a car?
Although not essential, it is advisable to hire a car, as the villa is situated 6 miles from Disney. However, for non-drivers, a shuttle bus to the major attractions is currently in operation, picking up and dropping off at the Clubhouse at Glenbrook, (about $9 return per person), and taxis are readily available.
What is not included in the price?
If you require pool heating or BBQ there will an extra charge. The only other extras are your flights, car hire, travel insurance and theme park tickets.
Is the security deposit separate?
The security deposit is not included in your reservation total. It will be charged on your credit card 7 days prior to arrival. This is refunded to the same credit card 7 days from your departure date with no damage to the property.
Do I need to book whole weeks or can I book part weeks?
You are welcome to book any duration, the cost will be calculated on a daily rate. However, for stays of less than 7 nights, an additional cleaning charge USD $80 will apply.
What are the advantages of renting direct from the owner?
You will receive a personal service; our villa can be cheaper than a hotel, and almost always cheaper than booking through a travel agent. Unlike a hotel, you will have your own swimming pool, kitchen, lounge plus many extra comforts free of charge.
Is the house better value than a hotel?
The rate for our home is for the whole villa, not per person. In addition to the well equipped bedrooms and bathrooms, you have the luxury of two lounges, your own very well equipped kitchen, your own pool, spa, relaxing pool deck and a double garage. We’ve left some games, books, videos and DVDs in the home, together with interesting visitor information. Our management company have also produced an information pack to assist you during your stay in our home.
How many people does the villa sleep?
Up to 10 people plus baby. Master bedroom with king size bed, en-suite bathroom with walk in shower and full bath tub. Master bedroom with queen size bed, en-suite bathroom with walk in shower and full bath tub. 2 twin bedrooms, suitable for both adults and children sharing a family bathroom. In addition there is a cot/crib for a baby which can be accommodated in any of the bedrooms and a sofa settee in ‘the quiet lounge’.
How far is it from the local attractions?
It is approximately 10 minutes/8 miles from the entrance road to Disney, off the 192. Sea World is approximately 15 miles – about 20/25 minutes. Universal is 20 miles – approximately 25/30 minutes. The Orlando Convention Centre is approximately 25 minutes and we have had guests working here stay at our home.
Orlando International Airport is approximately 30 minutes.
Orlando Sanford Airport is approximately 45 minutes.
Tampa Airport is approximately 1 hour 10 minutes.
Miami Airport is approximately 3 hours 45 minutes.
Any golf courses in the area?
Many Championship golf courses are within 15 miles of our homes. Check out our page on Golf Courses for names.
What is provided in the homes - what do I need to bring?
Just yourselves. Our home is completely furnished and equipped with bed linen, towels (including pool towels) all kitchen utensils including cups, plates, glasses (including plastic versions for use outside by the pool), cutlery, pots, pans and bakeware. There should be a hairdryer in each bathroom, iron and ironing board. In fact we have tried to include as much as possible to make your stay as enjoyable as possible - home from home. The house will have a basic supply of guest soap, toilet/napkin paper and a rubbish/garbage bag on your arrival. However replacement of these items is your responsibility during your stay.
Do you have to bring baby equipment?
Our home has a baby’s cot/crib and a high chair provided free of charge, to make your holiday/vacation as pleasant as possible.
How do we find the villa on arrival?
Once final payment has been received we will forward important and useful information including how to find our home. You will be asked to complete a registration form, pay a security deposit (by credit card swipe) and given the keys and directions to our villa. Should you arrive out of office hours, the welcome pack will be left in a lockbox outside the office, and you will be given a code to access this, along with the keys.
Which way does your pool face?
Our pool faces NE catching the beautiful Floridian sun all day. There are bushes planted on the boarder to give additional privacy.
Is the pool heated/do you have child safety features?
The pool can be heated for an additional charge. This is usually recommended between the months of October and May. The pool and spa heater is designed to maintain an appropriate water temperature up to 80 - 85 degrees and will take approximately 8 hours to heat up to this. However, this temperature can be lower at cooler times of the year. Pool heating is recommended between October and May. A safety pool fence with a gate should be erected for your arrival to protect children and non-swimmers.
Do you have a telephone?
Our home has two telephones - one between the kitchen/family room and a second in one of the master bedrooms - for outgoing and incoming calls. Local calls are free. Calls to other districts of Orlando, long distance or international calls will be blocked, unless unblocked by registering for a registration charge. We recommend the use of calling cards as these are a very cost effective method and are easily available at the local pharmacy, supermarkets, gas/petrol stations and a majority of shops.
Can I access the Internet?
A Personal Computer is available in the Media Room at the Club House during manned hours. This allows free access to the internet. If you bring a laptop from home with a wireless network card this too can access the internet from the Club House either from the comfort of the Media Room or from adjoining rooms when the Media Room is closed (during unmanned hours). The hotspot, on 'good' connection days, can also be reached from the communal pool, sitting close to the Club House.
What services/maintenance is provided?
All the homes are 'self-catering'. Prior to arrival the house will have been professionally cleaned with clean bed linen put on the beds and clean towels in the bathrooms. The home is provided with a washer, tumble dryer, dishwasher, vacuum, brushes, mop etc. If you wish, our management company will pleased to organise a clean for an additional fee. The grass is cut weekly and the pool is attended to at least once a week. For any queries our management company is always there to help.
Can we have maid service?
The villa will have been thoroughly cleaned prior to your arrival, and after you depart, but a maid service can be arranged on request for an additional charge, payable locally.
What about pets and smoking?
For the comfort of all guests, pets are not permitted in the villa. Smoking is also prohibited in the villa; however, you may smoke outside the villa in the pool area, where ashtrays have been provided.
Are there any shops/stores near by?
Within a minute of the home is a Walgreen’s Pharmacy where basic items such as bread, butter, milk, cereals and biscuits can be purchased. This summer (2004) another pharmacy is also opening opposite Walgreen’s. Within 3 minutes drive there is a Winn Dixie, post office, dry cleaners and just along the 192 is a Publix Supermarket, take aways and a video/DVD/PlayStation hire shop. In the autumn/fall of 2004 a brand new Wal-Mart is opening at the Crossings, a new shopping centre 5 minutes drive from our home. Close, but away from your relaxing home.
Are there any restaurants close by?
Close by are Wendy’s, Dennys, Ponderosa, Sizzlers and the Grand Corral. There is also an ice-cream parlour, Chinese and Italian restaurants.
Are there medical services close by?
A Walk-In Medical Centre is located 5 minutes away in the Formosa Garden Shopping Centre, along the 192.
Is there a security deposit and what is it for?
A $500 damage deposit will be placed on a credit card on check-in at the Glenbrook Resort. This covers breakages, inventory, damage, excessive utility charges or if the house is left in an exceptionally poor state of cleanliness (eg stains on carpet, marks on wall etc) when extra cleaning is required. This will be refunded by mail within 30 days of departure.
How do we book?
If you would like to book our home, please check our availability by clicking on the availability calendar or by going to our availability page and completing the booking form. When dates and the rate have been agreed a booking invoice will be made by email/telephone and will be held for 5 working days (longer for overseas guests), pending receipt of a written confirmation and full deposit or payment as appropriate. Bookings may only be made by an adult aged 21 years or over. Only the persons named on the booking form are permitted to stay in the house. Florida State Law prohibits subletting, sharing or assigning. Any persons not shown on the booking form will be asked to leave by our Property Management.
How safe will our money be?
A concern some guests have is how safe will our money be when we are sending it to someone we have never met. Rest assured, we are very trustworthy people who are approachable. We will trust you with our dream home - and we may never have met. If you still feel unsure we do take payment through a credit card using PayPal payment.
What if I need help or assistance while staying in the villa?
We have an excellent Glenbrook Management company on call 24hrs a day in case of emergencies.
What if I require additional accommodation?
Should you require additional accommodation, please contact us we will be happy to direct you to another villa owner who has accommodation available on the same resort.
Can we rent a BBQ Grill?
Yes, our management company will be happy to supply a BBQ for a small charge.
How easy is it to drive in Florida?
Floridian roads are not too congested, compared to major cities. Obviously for some countries, the driver has to remember the cars are left hand drive-In Florida, unless stated, you may turn right at a red traffic light providing it is safe to do so. Headlights must be turned on during rain or reduced visibility. You are required to 'Stop' if a school bus stops, even if you are on the other side of the road. It is illegal to overtake a school bus when it is stopped for loading or unloading of passengers. You should remain stationary until all the children are clear of the road and the bus moves off. When entering a school district watch out for reduced speed signs. You may be required to pay in advance before filling up. If the police stop you for any reason you must stay in your vehicle until the officer comes to you. Do not attempt to get out of the car. You must have both your driving license and rental agreement with you. Failure can result in a fine. You must report any accidents to the local police. You must not leave the scene of an accident. You must ask for a copy of the report for your car rental company. Never drink and drive. You are not allowed to drink and drive. It is illegal in the State of Florida to visibly carry alcohol or to have an opened container of alcohol in the vehicle.
